Mr. Kaplan is of counsel with the firm. He joined Stone & Baxter after having been a partner in the Macon office of Arnall Golden Gregory LLP for 20 years.

Mr. Kaplan has been awarded an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory. In 1993, he received the honor of being inducted into the American College of Bankruptcy. He was also named a Georgia Super Lawyer by Atlanta Magazine in 2004 and 2005 for his work in Bankruptcy and Workouts and was included in the 2005-2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

He is the author of Georgia Corporation Law, Kaplan’s Nadler Ed., 1971, 1979, 1988, 1989, and 1990. He was also the author of the 1966 Supplement to Nadler, The Law of Debtor Relief. From 1989 to the present, Mr. Kaplan has been a co-author of Georgia Corporations, Limited Partnerships & Limited Liability Companies, Kaplan’s Nadler Edition, 1989-2017.

Mr. Kaplan was the Chairperson of the State Bar of Georgia’s Legal Economics Committee in 1973-74 and the Chairperson of the State Bar of Georgia’s Prepaid Legal Services Committee in 1974-76. He has been an adjunct professor at Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University on the topics of Creditor’s Rights & Debtor’s Remedies (1968) and Business Reorganizations (1991).

Mr. Kaplan has practiced law since December 1960, and there are few issues within these practice areas he has not handled.
