Mr.
Baxter has been in practice for twenty six (26) years.
He concentrates in the following areas: banking; commercial
and business transactions; commercial real estate;
general business representation; regulatory and administrative
law, with particular emphasis on telecommunications;
environmental law; petroleum marketing and convenience
stores; creditors rights; and, wills, trusts and estates.
He is admitted to practice in all
Georgia courts, U.S. District Courts for the Northern,
Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia, the U. S.
Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits
and the U. S. Supreme Court. Mr. Baxter has served
as a lecturer on business, environmental and trust/estates
law since 1988. He is a graduate of Mercer University’s
College of Liberal Arts (B.A. 1975) and its Walter
F. George School of Law (J.D. 1978). He is a member
of the Georgia Bar Association (Business and Environmental
Law Sections), the Federal Communications Bar Association,
the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy,
Phi Delta Phi, and the Kappa Alpha Order.
He has served or is currently serving
as a member of the National Advisory Council on Rural
Development, the Stone Mountain Authority Board of
Directors, the Ronald McDonald House Foundation of
Central Georgia, Inc., The Cannonball House and Museum
Board of Directors, and the Board of Trustees of the
Southern Cultural Foundation.
He is a member and Ruling Elder of
First Presbyterian Church, Macon, Georgia, and a former
Moderator of Central Georgia Presbytery. Having been
active in the Republican Party for many years, he
has served as county and congressional district chairman
and as a member of the Georgia Republican Central
and Executive Committees.
He is an avid hunter, fisherman and
horseman.
