Mr.
Carter focuses his practice in a variety of commercial
and business areas, representing businesses and
individuals throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Mr. Carter has handled matters
for businesses ranging in size from single-member
LLC’s to Fortune 500 companies. He
assists clients with such matters as contracts,
disputes and complex civil litigation, collections,
business formation and corporate governance, transactions,
real estate, telecommunications, employment and
probate matters. Mr. Carter also represents
creditors (secured and unsecured), committees,
debtors and trustees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings
throughout the State, as well as telecommunications
companies with respect to their regulatory affairs
before the Georgia Public Service Commission.
Mr. Carter is admitted to practice
in all of Georgia’s state and federal courts. He
has advocated cases in a variety of alternative
dispute resolution forums, including the American
Arbitration Association, the National Association
of Securities Dealers and the National Futures
Association, as well as several private mediation
services.
Prior to returning to his hometown
of Macon in 2001, Mr. Carter practiced with the
Atlanta office of a large, national firm, where
he handled business and commercial litigation.
Mr. Carter earned his J.D. from the University
of Georgia School of Law in 1995 and his B.A. from
Tulane University in 1992. During law school,
he served as Notes Editor of the Georgia Journal
of International and Comparative Law, in which
his article was published in the Fall 1993 edition. He
is currently a member of the State Bar of Georgia
(Business Law and Bankruptcy sections), the Macon
Bar Association and the Federal Communications
Bar Association. He is a member of Sigma
Alpha Epsilon fraternity and Pi Sigma Alpha honor
society.
An active member of the Macon community, Mr. Carter
is a member of the Macon Civic Club, the 2005 Leadership
Macon class and the Historic Macon Foundation. He
and his family attend Mulberry Street Methodist
Church, where Mr. Carter is a member of the Administrative
Board. Mr. Carter also serves on the Advisory
Board for Wesley Glen Ministries. During
his spare time, Mr. Carter enjoys playing golf
and spending time with his family and friends.
